A lamp is a lamp is a lamp, right? Not if manufacturing them is what you do for a living.

Rodney Trice

My workshop is simple.

Bring some object you found, own, or love and lets make a lamp.

Craft time, simple wiring DIY or whatever you want to call it, lets make this a chance to understand the process of making things by hand and how technology can be used to reach those who will never learn about the most progressive apps, latest robotics and anything else that is totally changing our worlds and how we work with materials and make objects. Objects like lamps!

And while we do this, let’s explore and discuss in the process how these simple hand skills that make some people living‘s are being replaced with robots or technology or by workers in another country somewhere in the world. Regardless, as these jobs disappear, let’s discuss options for the people who will be left destitute and dependent on fading government programs instead of being able to move forward as technology does. Because in the end, there really is new technology that doesn’t take their jobs and instead can enhance the work and careers of those even contemplating burying weapons in their yard and waiting for the Skynet takeover by robots.
